Playing With Furniture

Share

After reading “Women at Top in Music” (Jan. 15), I find it difficult to believe that JoAnn Falletta would use the word credenza (def., a buffet or sideboard, especially one without legs) in reference to music. As a harpist whose career has led me to commission, perform and record numerous works by women composers, I know their harp music could not be characterized as “gentle.” Their harp works are all “very strong and very powerful.” And if they were “full of harp credenzas,” just imagine the power and strength of all that heavy furniture on the stage!
