Man Dies in Crash With Ambulance
An 82-year-old man was killed Monday when he made a U-turn against a traffic light and collided with an out-of-service ambulance, police said.
James L. Breen of Laguna Niguel was traveling west on Alicia Parkway just before 10:30 a.m. when he turned onto Via Fabricante, said Lt. Dan Martini of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Breen’s 1987 Camaro was struck broadside by an out-of-service Life Fleet ambulance, which had a green light, police said.
Breen was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The ambulance driver and a passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries and complaints of pain, and were released.
