ALHAMBRA: The City Council has given preliminary approval to rezone some properties south of Mission Road and west of Atlantic Boulevard from multifamily housing to single-family. In addition, the council approved a $73,094 contract with Aquatic Design Group. Inc. to redesign Granada Park Pool and Poolhouse.

COVINA: Eastern Los Angeles County cities hope to break a deadlock next week over replacing former Covina Mayor Henry Morgan as their representative on the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Morgan, recalled from the Covina City Council, will vacate his seat Monday.

DIAMOND BAR: The city is $2.3 million richer because the county has agreed to return four years’ worth of disputed property tax revenue. The out-of-court settlement calls for the county to repay the revenue--withheld between 1989 and 1993--in three installments, and permanently changes the method of determining property tax allocation to the city.

DUARTE: Winston Bautista has been appointed to a four-year term on the city’s Planning Commission. He is a senior designer at the Pasadena office of McClellan Cruz Gaylord & Associates.

POMONA--Severo Esquivel, 55, was sworn in as Pomona’s city administrator on Monday, replacing interim city administrator Lloyd Wood, who will continue in his capacity as police chief. Esquivel served as deputy city manager in San Diego for more than five years.

SOUTH EL MONTE The City Council tonight will consider whether to hold public hearings on a plan by Cajon Pipeline Ltd. to place a crude oil pipeline on Peck Road and Durfee Avenue.
