Princess Mitterand Wins Santa Ysabel
Princess Mitterand, a daughter of Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew, took the early lead and romped to a 3 1/2-length victory Wednesday over Dianes Halo in the $78,675 Santa Ysabel Stakes at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Chris McCarron, Princess Mitterand covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:43 1/5. It was her first stakes victory.
She returned $3 and $2.20 as the odds-on favorite in the field of four 3-year-old fillies. There was no show wagering.
Dianes Halo paid $2.60. Jacodra’s Devil was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.60.
The victory, worth $44,925, increased Princess Mitterand’s career earnings to $129,375, with three victories in seven starts.
