Agoura High backup guard Mike Park took only two shots Wednesday night against Westlake.

Both were three-pointers that gave the Chargers leads, the second coming with one second to play and giving Agoura a 41-39 Marmonte league victory.

The victory left the Chargers (13-5, 7-1 in league play) alone in first place.

Park’s three-pointer from the left baseline came after Westlake guard Steve Aylsworth (14 points) scored on a twisting lay-up to give the Warriors (10-5, 4-3) the lead with 12 seconds left.

“This was the biggest shot of my career,” Park said. “Coach said anyone who was open could take the shot. I was a little surprised I was open.”

Forward Damon Blechen helped Agoura rally from an eight-point deficit midway through the third quarter by scoring nine of his 11 points in the final quarter.

“I think we just played tougher defense in the fourth quarter,” Blechen said. “It wasn’t too much of a lead to overcome.”

Westlake surged to an early 9-2 lead, helped by consecutive three-pointers by Aylsworth, who was making a rare start. Agoura came back in the second quarter, and Park’s first three-pointer gave Agoura a 12-10 lead.

After going six minutes without scoring, Billy Miller (13 points), playing on a sprained ankle, scored seven points to help give Westlake a 19-17 halftime lead.

Agoura center Ben Richardson collided with Miller under the basket late in the third quarter and had to leave the game.
