Highway Pileup

* I don’t understand why a 70-car pileup in the fog makes the front page (Jan. 16). It happens so often it isn’t news anymore.
The only thing unusual is that we have so many idiots doing it over and over, following one another into the fog like highway lemmings.
If you asked them to drive blindfolded at 60 miles per hour they would think you were crazy. Yet this is exactly what they do when they speed into a fog.
Some highways have crosses by the side of the road to indicate where a fatal accident has occurred. For the highway lemmings we should pile all the wrecked vehicles in one heap as a monument to stupidity.
