Diabetes Seminar Offered Saturday

The American Diabetes Assn.’s Latino programs committee will host a free Spanish-English education seminar Saturday at the AltaMed Senior Center.

The 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. seminar, “Yes, You Can . . . With Diabetes,” will cover how to manage the disease with steps to take at home and at the doctor’s office, exercise and nutrition.

The program’s goal is to teach patients how to make healthy choices and lifestyle modifications to avoid blindness, stroke, heart attack, amputation and other complications associated with this chronic disease that impairs the body’s ability to convert sugar into energy.

The AltaMed Senior Center is at 5425 E. Pomona Blvd.
