A California Highway Patrol officer from Trabuco Canyon and a Westminster man have each won $1 million in the California Lottery’s “Big Spin.”

Antoinette Kodera, 36, said she plays the lottery all the time, but had never won more than $500 before.

“You sit there thinking, ‘Yeah, $25,000, that’s OK.’ But then a million (dollars) came up. It was beyond belief,” Kodera said.

The Big Spin was held Friday but not televised until Saturday.

Kodera, a CHP officer based in San Juan Capistrano, said she will pay off bills and probably invest the rest of her winnings.

Ron Bush, 53, chief construction inspector for the Port of Long Beach, who has lived in Westminster for four years, said he may use the money to travel or fix his home’s roof.

“I was pretty positive about it. I told my wife, LaVonne, that when I got the wheel I’d win a million dollars,” Bush said. “I always promised her that if we could afford it we’d take a trip to Europe.”
