Chicago Purchasing Index Falls: The city’s economic picture took a slight dip in January, the Purchasing Management Assn. of Chicago said, the first indication that last month’s harsh weather may have taken a bite out of the economy. The Chicagoland Business Barometer fell to a seasonally adjusted 59.6% in January from a revised 62.2% in December. An index below 50% signals a slowing manufacturing economy.
