World IN BRIEF : VIETNAM : 12 Sets of Remains Turned Over to U.S.

Vietnam turned over to the United States what are believed to be the remains of 12 more Americans missing from the Vietnam War, four days after President Clinton lifted the U.S. trade embargo against the Southeast Asian nation. An honor guard saluted the fallen men during a ceremony at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport as the remains were put aboard a transport plane. They were flown to Honolulu for further analysis and positive identification. The remains were either excavated by U.S. specialists or turned over by villagers in December and January during the biggest joint search effort since the end of the war.
