THOUSAND OAKS : Economy of Conejo Valley to Be Discussed

Share

Thousand Oaks business owners, government officials and university professors will meet Thursday morning at Cal Lutheran University to dissect the state of the local economy and attempt to chart its future.

Entitled “Conejo Valley Jobs and Business--A Quick Look Back . . . A Good Look Forward,” the forum is being sponsored by the Thousand Oaks Rotary Club, the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and Cal Lutheran.

“I just got tired of seeing all these economic forecasts of our economy done by experts in Los Angeles, or Washington or even Ventura,” said Merv Kopp, a Thousand Oaks Rotary Club member and planning commissioner who helped plan the event.

The morning forum will feature assessments of the economy from local business owners, city officials such as Thousand Oaks Finance Director Robert Biery and school administrators such as Jerry Gross, the superintendent of the Conejo Valley Unified School District, Kopp said.

Charles Maxey, the dean of Cal Lutheran’s business school, will also give his forecast for the Thousand Oaks economy.

The forum, which is free and open to the public, will run from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday in Cal Lutheran’s Preus-Brandt Forum. For more information, call the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce at 499-1993.
