COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Stage Big Rally to Beat Loyola Marymount in Baseball

Cal State Fullerton rallied for 10 runs in the last three innings to defeat Loyola Marymount, 15-8, in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at Loyola.

The Titans (7-1), who won their sixth consecutive game, trailed, 8-5, after five innings, but scored three runs in the seventh and eighth innings, and four runs in the ninth.

Matt Wagner (1-0), Chad Rolish and Ted Silva combined to shut out Loyola the last three innings.

Designated hitter Adam Millan and second baseman Jeff Ferguson led Fullerton offensively. Millan was three for five, scored three runs and drove in two. Ferguson had four hits, scored four runs and had four RBIs. They each hit two doubles.

First baseman D.C. Olsen added a double and a solo home run in the ninth. It was his first home run of the season.

Fullerton starting pitcher Derek Fahs gave up five runs on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Loyola (1-1) scored three runs in the fourth on left fielder Mike Peters’ three-run inside-the-park homer. Peters had three hits.

In Golden West Athletic Conference men’s basketball:

Cal Baptist 86, Southern California College 84 (OT)--Geoff Gorham had 36 points and 15 rebounds for visiting Cal Baptist (11-13, 3-5). Danin Bryant scored 25 points and Todd Anderson had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Vanguards (10-12, 2-6), who are now alone in last place.

In Golden West Athletic Conference women’s basketball:

Point Loma Nazarene 77, Concordia 71--Gitte Mejer had 30 points and 13 rebounds and Julie Workman scored 14 for Concordia (13-10, 3-4).

Southern California College 63, Cal Baptist 41--Tina Demarsh had 20 points and six assists for the Vanguards (18-6, 4-3).

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Pepperdine 78, Cal State Fullerton 53--Former Brea-Olinda standout Aimee McDaniel had 20 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to lead Pepperdine (10-10).

Autumn Hollyfield scored 16 points, including four three-pointers, and Shefonda Colbert had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Cal State Fullerton (2-16).
