Share

Marjorie Flanagan, a 45-year resident of Huntington Beach who taught elementary school for nearly 20 years, died Saturday after an extended illness. She was 67.

Flanagan taught at Huntington Beach Elementary School and McGaw Intermediate School in Seal Beach, retiring in 1976. She was a participant in the American Field Service, an organization that sends local students abroad and hosts foreign students, and the Huntington Beach Chapter of P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic education organization.

“She had a very bright mind, was a leader in whatever she did, and her students really loved her, I’m sure,” said Betty Steidinger, a close friend and colleague.
