Print Authority as Curator of Drawings
The J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu has appointed Nicholas Turner as curator of drawings.
Turner, formerly deputy keeper of the department of prints and drawings at the British Museum in London, was named to the post last week.
He is one of the world’s leading authorities on Italian drawings and has helped organize many exhibitions, including works by Michelangelo, Raphael and Guercino.
Turner received a bachelor’s degree from Leeds University and studied at the Courtauld Institute of Art at the University of London, where he received a master’s degree with distinction in the history of European art.
He became assistant keeper at the British Museum two decades ago before being named deputy keeper in 1991.
