NEW STATION: Metrolink has made it to Northridge. On Monday, a new emergency station will open at Wilbur Avenue and Parthenia Street to help out commuters. Also, the Ventura County route will be extended to Camarillo.

FALSE FILING: The Valley is certainly no stranger to income tax fraud. Back in 1991, the government caught swindlers who set up an operation that led to the electronic filing of more than 200 fraudulent tax returns for refunds amounting to about $1 million. . . . Electronic tax return fraud is a big nationwide problem (A1). False filing by computer went up 105% last year, the General Accounting Office told Congress Thursday.

AFTER HOURS: Work the late shift or suffer from insomnia? No problem. There’s plenty to do after most of the Valley has gone to bed (above). Late-night options include bowling, exercise, newsstands and coffeehouses. Believe it or not, you can even acquire a tan. . . . “Some people have the Kiwanis Club,” said one night owl. “These people have the night.” See Valley Life! Page 10.

PALMDALE’S PELE: He’s soccer sensation Mike Dibbini, a Palmdale High senior who overcame a serious knee injury to score the most goals in the Southern Section last year. . . . This year, he’s scoring well again, both on the field and in the classroom--he’s got a 3.5 GPA. And guess what? He wants to be a doctor. (C10)
