Khalid Reeves scored 33 points and made six three-point shots as 16th-ranked Arizona held Stanford to a season-low in scoring in a 77-60 victory Thursday night at Palo Alto.

Rebounding from last Saturday’s stunning 74-69 loss to Washington at Seattle, Arizona claimed a 13th consecutive victory over the Cardinal, which lost for only the second time in 11 home games this season. The other loss was to UCLA.

The Wildcats, 18-4 overall and 7-3 in the Pacific 10 Conference, made 11 of 18 three-point shots after making only four of 28 against Washington.

Dion Cross scored 16 points to lead Stanford (13-6, 6-4).

No. 18 California 95, Arizona State 78--Lamond Murray, held scoreless while the Golden Bears fell behind by 20 points in the opening 10 minutes at Berkeley, finished with 19 points as they won their sixth straight and avenged an earlier 63-60 loss to the Sun Devils.

Cal (16-4, 8-2), which got 25 points from Monty Buckley, erased a 34-14 deficit to trail by 50-46 at halftime. The Golden Bears scored the first eight points of the second half to take a 54-50 lead and never trailed the Sun Devils (11-8, 6-4) again.

No. 1 North Carolina 95, Maryland 89--Point guard Derrick Phelps scored nine of his 21 points in the final 2:12 to help hold off a furious rally by Maryland (12-7, 5-5) in an Atlantic Coast Conference game at Chapel Hill, N.C.

Phelps also had eight assists, seven steals and five rebounds for North Carolina (20-3, 8-2), which has won at least 20 games 24 seasons in a row.

No. 7 Louisville 65, South Florida 50--Clifford Rozier scored 25 points and keyed a 17-6 run down the stretch in a Metro Conference game at Tampa, Fla., as the Cardinals (19-2, 8-1) won their ninth game in a row. The Bulls (9-11, 2-5) entered the game with a 10-game home winning streak, eight this season.

No. 8 Temple 51, Duquesne 49--Eddie Jones scored 24 points and Jason Ivey made a short bank shot with six seconds to play for the Owls in an Atlantic 10 game at Philadelphia.

Duquesne (11-8, 5-5) tied the score with 15 seconds to play on a jump shot by Kenya Hunter. Rick Brunson then found Ivey for the short shot and the victory for Temple (17-3, 10-2).

No. 13 Massachusetts 70, Rhode Island 64--Derek Kellogg scored 13 points, seven in the final two minutes, and Lou Roe overcame an early injury to add 11 as the Minutemen (18-4, 9-0) won at Providence, R.I., to remain undefeated in the Atlantic 10.

No. 22 Marquette 61, Cincinnati 60--Jim McIlvaine blocked eight shots, scored 18 points and made two free throws that gave the Warriors a Great Midwest victory at Cincinnati.

McIlvaine’s free throws with 2:20 to play put Marquette ahead, 61-60, and both teams went cold the rest of the way. Marquette (16-6, 7-1) missed three free throws, and Cincinnati (15-7, 3-4) missed twice in the final nine seconds.

OTHER GAMES Randolph Childress scored 33 points and Wake Forest (15-7, 5-4) destroyed the zone defense of Florida State (10-9, 3-7) with 14 three-point goals in a 77-69 ACC victory at Winston-Salem, N.C. . . . Utah (11-10, 5-7 WAC) got into overtime with Jimmy Carroll’s three-pointer with 36 seconds, then--with Coach Rick Majerus in the hospital for what is termed a minor cardiac procedure--held on for an 81-74 victory over Hawaii (12-11, 8-4) at Salt Lake City.

. . . Russell Larson scored 30 points to lead Brigham Young (16-5, 9-3 WAC) to a 101-87 victory over San Diego State (9-10, 4-8) at Provo, Utah.
