SIMI VALLEY : Embezzlement Trial Suspended for Day
The church embezzlement trial of Father David-Dean Piroli was suspended for the day Monday when Deputy Dist. Atty. Mary Peace had to attend to a family emergency, said her supervisor, Deputy Dist. Atty. Patricia Kelliher.
Kelliher said the trial is expected to resume this morning in Ventura County Superior Court with Peace’s continued cross-examination of Piroli.
Piroli, 37, is on trial on two counts of grand theft. He is accused of stealing $60,000 in collection money from St. Peter Claver Church in Simi Valley and Sacred Heart Church in Saticoy.
