The wreckage of a small plane believed to have flown out of Orange County was found in rugged mountains near here early Monday, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department said.

Rescue crews reached the crash site and recovered the body of the pilot, who was alone in the craft.

The victim’s name was withheld pending positive identification.

Orange County deputies said they had received similar information but were waiting for fingerprint confirmation of the man’s identity.
