Chamber to Get Own Cable TV Show

The San Fernando Chamber of Commerce will merge onto the information superhighway--albeit in the slow lane--with its own cable-access television show.

Conan O’Brien was booked and Chevy Chase unavailable, so chamber member Brad Buckley tapped his wife, Danielle Sullivan, for the host position on the show, which will feature local politicians, pundits and business owners.

“It’s one of those things where I’m familiar with her work--obviously--and, biases aside, she does good work,” said Buckley, who heads the chamber’s business improvement committee.

Sullivan hosts a radio talk show on KMGX, Magic FM, Sundays at 7 a.m., and hosts a cable show once a month, Buckley said.

Continental Cablevision, which will grant the chamber free air and studio time, has not picked a slot for the show, so Buckley has no idea if he will compete with shows such as “Married With Children” or a Soloflex infomercial. “The idea behind the show is to promote the city, not only to residents, but people who live outside the boundaries,” Buckley said. “We want to enhance the city’s image. A lot of people don’t know about the city and what it has to offer.”

The chamber will spend six weeks training a crew, then begin airing its 13 shows in April, Buckley said.
