ALL ABOARD: Nearly 100 commuters boarded Metrolink trains in Camarillo on Monday as the rail service crossed into west Ventura County for the first time (B1). Missing: ticket machines. . . . The Camarillo station was built in a hurry to ease quake-related freeway congestion, and ticket-dispensing machines were not immediately available. . . . Until the machines are installed next week, vendors will sell tickets on the platform.

FOURTH AND GOAL: More than 125,000 cards and letters have been sent to NBC in support of “Against the Grain,” a television series about high school football filmed in Santa Paula and Moorpark. . . . Producer Dave Johnson, a Moorpark resident, hasn’t given up on the show. He’s hoping that NBC will rerun the Friday evening series--preferably on a different, more viewer-friendly night. . . . The fan mail will be displayed today at a news conference at Warner Bros.

DOUBLE STANDARD? Sports Illustrated has caused an uproar--not for its annual swimsuit edition, but for killing an ad because it showed too much male skin (E1). The magazine has refused to run an ad featuring semi-nude soccer players. . . . Why treat women differently, asks Jamie Leigh of the National Organization for Women in Ventura County. “I think that women would like to get to the place where they are not used as marketing tools,” she said. . . . Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue hit newsstands last week.
