PALMDALE — A jewelry store employee was shot and killed in a robbery Friday, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at 1:11 p.m. from a person who looked into Charles Jewelers, at 38513 Sierra Highway, and saw smashed display cases, said Deputy Larry Mead of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
“Deputies arrived and looked through the open door and saw the store’s employee lying on the floor,” Mead said.
The victim, who was working alone at the time, was a 45-year-old man, Mead said.
The man’s name was not released pending notification of his family.
An undetermined amount of jewelry was taken from the store and there were no clues to the identity of the killer, Mead said.
