College’s Reopening Took Leadership and Courage

Share

* I salute President Mary E. Lee for having the courage and leadership to reopen Valley College two days after the earthquake. After examining the buildings with her plant facilities workers, according to your article on Feb. 11, staff and faculty worked hours preparing for reopening. Kudos as well for the two faculty members who did not vote to denounce her for doing her job.

Isn’t the purpose of a leader to lead? I wish Pierce, Mission College and Cal State Northridge could have been in a position to open so quickly.

If the whiny faculty and students were part of the private sector, they undoubtedly would have been delighted to be able to go back to work so soon.
