Motorola Develops Multimedia Option for PCs: Instead of using add-on cards to give sound and video capabilities to personal computers, the new Motorola product uses software developed around a single chip, called a digital signal processor, or DSP. The product, called PC Media, will be available to makers of personal computers and software writers. The technology allows the DSP chips to run voice and sound for entertainment as well as a fax, modem or telephone.
