Volunteers to Offer Free Tax Assistance

More than 100 volunteers will be available free of charge to help elderly, disabled and low-income taxpayers file their 1993 returns at locations throughout Ventura County through April 15, organizers said.

Last year, more than 3,500 people were assisted by the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, according to the Commission on Human Concerns, which has sponsored the program for 12 years.

This year, the commission has added automated filing, so returns can be expected within 10 days, organizers said. Tax help can be found at the following locations:

Camarillo: Camarillo Senior Center, 1605 E. Burnley St., 10 a.m. to noon Mondays; Camarillo Library, 3100 Ponderosa Drive, 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Fillmore: St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1048 Ventura St., 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Moorpark: Catholic Charities, 77 1st St., 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

Oxnard: Oxnard Community Center, 800 Hobson Way, 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays; Oxnard Library, 251 S.
