Community News : LOS ANGELES : Airport Begins Electric Shuttle Bus Service
Los Angeles International Airport last week introduced the first of four electric shuttle buses for the regular route between remote parking lots and the main terminal.
The battery-powered buses emit 97% less pollution than diesel-powered vehicles and can carry 25 seated and seven standing passengers, officials said.
Use of the one bus will eliminate more than 5,000 pounds of smog-forming emissions from the atmosphere this year, Los Angeles City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter said. Three buses are scheduled to be added later this year.
