Fall fashions reflected cloistered living, modesty, a sense of atonement. But this spring, some designers celebrate youthful innocence via baby-doll and tomboy styles. Others embrace ethnic, neo-punk and deconstructivist looks. What does this say about the clothes we’ll eventually be wearing? That they’re light, sheer, very short or very long, shiny, sometimes pretty but more often not. This season, it seems, no one wants to dress up.
