‘I Don’t Buy Kisses Anymore’

Share

This irresistable little 1992 movie, beautifully directed by Robert Marcarelli, got lost in theatrical release but just might find new life on the tube. Jason Alexander (pictured) stars as a suburban Philadelphia store owner who always buys chocolate kisses at the end of the day before boarding a bus for home. He’s a nice young Jewish man, some 30 pounds overweight, who still lives at home with his doting mother (Lainie Kazan) and bombastic grandfather (Lou Jacobi). One day he meets on the bus the woman (Nia Peeples, pictured) who could change his life. Jonnie Lindell’s wonderfully warm script is a romantic comedy that shows how limiting our perceptions of each other and ourselves can be.--(Cinemax Thursday at 2:30 p.m.)
