CYPRESS : City Asking for Help to Buy Trees for Park
The city and the Friends of Cypress Recreation and Parks are seeking donations for trees during the fourth annual Tree Donation Project.
A $100 donation will buy a 2-foot-tall tree, $175 will buy a 2 1/2-foot tree, $300 will buy a 3-foot tree and $500 will buy a 3 1/2-foot tree.
The trees will be planted at the former Texaco/Chestnut Park in April, when the park will be officially rededicated as the Darrell Essex Park, in honor of the city manager.
Each donation will be recognized with a plaque to be placed at the foot of the tree with the name of the donor.
All donations must be made by March 18.
Cypress has been recognized for its protection and conservation programs for trees and is a member of the National Arbor Day Foundation.
