Share

With its $2.6-million renovation complete, Plummer Auditorium will host an open house March 12 to celebrate its inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.

Plummer Auditorium, built in 1930 and named for a former Fullerton school superintendent, houses one of two Grand Wurlitzer theater organs in the country. It is located between the campuses of Fullerton High School and Fullerton College.

The Spanish Colonial Revival-style building contains the original ironwork chandeliers crafted by metal shop students in 1929 and the original ceiling.

During the yearlong renovation, additions included handicapped-accessible bathrooms, air conditioning, a hydraulic orchestra lift and a 2,000-square-foot area for dressing rooms and storage space.

The open house is from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tours of the facility and refreshments will be provided, along with entertainment by the Troy High School concert band and the Fullerton High School choir.
