A Moorpark man died Thursday afternoon in Thousand Oaks after a car struck his motorcycle, pushing it into a third vehicle and throwing him to the ground.

Arthur Velador, 52, was pronounced dead at 3:10 p.m. at Westlake Medical Center, where he had been rushed after the 1:21 p.m. accident at Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Pierce Arrow Avenue, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies reported that Velador was traveling east on Thousand Oaks Boulevard when he was struck by a car driven by Kathleen Gray, 41, of Westlake as she drove out of the North Ranch Mall and across the boulevard.

The force of the crash pushed Gray’s car and Velador’s motorcycle into a third car, driven by Laura Plourde, 36, of Port Hueneme. Plourde’s car was stopped on Pierce Arrow Avenue waiting for traffic to clear, Senior Deputies Bill Therrien and Mike Christensen said in a report.

Gray and Plourde were uninjured, the report said.

Velador was taken to Westlake Hospital with multiple injuries and admitted in critical condition. He died less than two hours later, deputies reported.

There was no indication any of the drivers was intoxicated at the time, and deputies said they are still investigating the crash.
