WESTWOOD VILLAGE : Parking Meter Rates Cut in Bid to Attract Shoppers
Parking meter rates in Westwood Village were cut as of Thursday, a change that business owners hope will bring in more shoppers and visitors.
Parking at a meter for an hour will cost 50 cents now, the same rate in effect throughout the rest of the Westside.
“This is the first step they’re doing to improve Westwood Village,” said Caroline Dillon of the Westwood Village Management Corp. “It’s one of the steps the merchants requested.”
In addition, visitors and shoppers can take advantage of the little-publicized Privilege Parking program, which provides business patrons with a $1 refund on parking lot charges, Dillon said. Under the year-old program, participating businesses will provide a refund when a patron shows a parking lot ticket stub, she said.
