LAGUNA BEACH : Patriots Day Parade to Be Held Saturday

With a theme highlighting the spirit and heritage of Laguna Beach, the 28th annual Patriots Day Parade will roll through the city on Saturday.

Among the floats will be an offering from residents burned out in the October fire--the Mystic Hills Homeowners Assn.’s rendition of a house under construction.

Other highlights include eight school marching bands and a bagpipe group. Maj. Gen. Drax Williams, commander of the El Toro Marine Base, will serve as the grand marshal.

Citizen of the Year is Laguna Beach Police Chief Neil J. Purcell Jr. and Patriot of the Year is George Pletts. The Junior Citizens of the Year are Sarah O’Rourke and Ryan Savers.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Short Street, following a route that includes Park Avenue, Glenneyre Street, Forest Avenue and 3rd Street.
