THOUSAND OAKS : Woman Accused in Shootings Enters Plea
A 45-year-old woman accused of shooting up a Thousand Oaks neighborhood in a drunken rage pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity on Friday.
Kathleen Ann Quinn had previously pleaded not guilty, but entered the additional insanity plea so she could be examined by court-appointed doctors, Deputy Dist. Atty. Roger A. Inman said.
Quinn is charged with 19 counts ranging from shooting at inhabited dwellings to drunk driving in connection with the Dec. 12 incident. Police said Quinn, a messenger-service saleswoman, shot into the buildings--including a church, school and hospital--because she was upset over the breakup of her marriage. No one was injured.
Inman said Quinn, who is free on bail, still must face trial on her charges, even if the psychologist and psychiatrist appointed to the case Friday conclude she is insane.
Jenny Scovis, Quinn’s attorney, could not be reached for comment. Quinn’s jury trial is scheduled for April 11 in the courtroom of Ventura County Superior Court Judge Lawrence Storch.
