Lombardi left the district to enter the private sector but for the last three years has been chancellor of College of the Sequoias, a community college district in Visalia in the San Joaquin Valley.

Doffoney succeeds Constance M. Carroll, who resigned in December, 1992, to become president of Mesa College in San Diego. He comes to Saddleback with 20 years of experience as an administrator. Since 1990, he has been acting vice president of academic affairs at Los Angeles City College.
