THOUSAND OAKS : Guggenheim Endorses Schillo for Supervisor

Former state Assembly candidate Alan A. Guggenheim, who had been considering running for the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, on Monday instead endorsed Thousand Oaks Councilman Frank Schillo in the supervisors’ race.

With Schillo standing by his side at a press conference in front of Thousand Oaks’ City Hall, Guggenheim said he had decided to bow out for personal and business reasons. He also hinted that he may run for City Council in November.

If Schillo is elected to the Board of Supervisors, Guggenheim said, “that means we need to find a good replacement for Frank on the City Council, and I will work hard on that, obviously.”

Pressed about a possible council candidacy, Guggenheim said “a lot of people who asked me to run for the board have also asked me if I would consider running for the City Council, and we need to think about that. I might consider it. Obviously today is Frank’s day, so let’s talk about the board race.”

Schillo is one of four candidates competing for the 2nd District supervisorial seat held by Maria VanderKolk, who will not seek reelection.

The other candidates are former Ventura County Supervisor Madge L. Schaefer, taxpayer advocate H. Jere Robings and attorney Trudi Loh.

Guggenheim, who runs his own international business consulting firm, said he decided to endorse Schillo because of his stand on various law enforcement issues as well as his business background.

Schillo owns his own financial consulting business.
