PREP ROUNDUP : Woodbridge Defeats El Toro in Tennis

Adam Call and A.J. Thoryk swept in doubles for Woodbridge, which beat El Toro, 15 2/3-5 1/3, in a nonleague boys’ tennis match Tuesday at El Toro.

Call and Thoryk won, 6-0, 7-5, 6-0, for Woodbridge (3-0). John France swept his singles sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for El Toro (1-2).

In other nonleague boys’ tennis:

Corona del Mar 15 1/3, Beverly Hills 5 2/3--Tyler Stonebreaker swept his singles sets, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, for Corona del Mar (3-0).

Foothill 13, Trabuco Hills 8--Jack Haung swept in singles, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1, for visiting Foothill (4-1).

Capistrano Valley 13 1/3, Laguna Hills 4 2/3--Zac Olsen lost only one game to sweep in singles and Martin Ojuez also swept in singles singles to lead Capistrano Valley (1-2).

Estancia 11 2/3, Irvine 9 1/3--Freshman Mike Leonard swept in singles, 7-5, 7-6, 6-1, for visiting Estancia (1-1) in a match that was suspended by rain Monday.

Savanna 14, Tustin 7--Truong Le and Hien Pham swept in doubles, 6-1, 6-0, 7-5, for host Savanna (1-3).

Los Alamitos 19 2/3, Cerritos Gahr 1 1/3--Randy Mano lost only one game in singles and Joe Shih and Herbert Manasala dropped four games to sweep in doubles to lead Los Alamitos (3-0).

Foothill 13, Trabuco Hills 8--Jack Huang swept his singles sets, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 for Foothill (4-1).

Valencia 14, Cerritos 7--Chris Tobolski swept at No. 1 singles and Andrew Lai and Lawrence Lu swept at No. 3 doubles to lead Valencia (2-2).

In the Sunset League:

Ocean View 13 1/2, Servite 7 1/2--Jakub Pietrowski won his singles sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for host Ocean View (2-0, 1-0).

Fountain Valley 16 2/3, Huntington Beach 4 1/3--Tom Vota swept in singles and Jason Hipp and Bryan Tran lost only two games in sweeping in doubles to lead Fountain Valley (2-2, 1-0).

Westminster 14 2/3, Santa Ana 6 1/3--Doug Nielsen swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-2, for Westminster (2-0, 1-0).

Edison 18 2/3, Marina 2 1/3--Jeff Baker won his singles sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1, for visiting Edison (2-1, 1-0).

Corona del Mar 188, University 200--Jenny Glasgow shot par 36 at Rancho San Joaquin to lead Corona del Mar (2-1, 1-0).

Villa Park 212, Mater Dei 214--Jay Finane shot three-over 39 for Villa Park (3-1) on the Riverside course at Green River Golf Course. John Garcia shot 39 for Mater Dei.

Sunny Hills 202, Brea-Olinda 214--John Park shot two-over 38 and Terry Noe and Jin Park each shot 39 at Los Coyotes for Sunny Hills (2-0).

In nonleague girls’ swimming:

Pacifica 105, Cerritos Whitney 50--Tara Severe won the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly, Tracy Burns took first in the 50 and 100 freestyle and Elena Weiss won the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley to lead Pacifica (2-0).

In nonleague boys’ volleyball:

Dana Hills 3, Edison 2--Bob Hefty had 16 kills and Neil Hewko had 14 for Dana Hills (3-0).

Tustin 3, Foothill 0--Donnie Rafter had 11 kills for visiting Tustin (1-0), which won, 15-6, 15-5, 15-10.

Esperanza 3, Mission Viejo 0--Jason Klems had nine kills for Esperanza (1-2), which won, 15-9, 15-2, 15-7.

El Modena 3, Saddleback 2--Sujin Pitakanophorn had 12 kills for El Modena (2-0), which won 12-15, 11-15, 15-4, 16-14, 15-5.

El Toro 3, Santa Margarita 0--Ryan Mariano had eight kills for host El Toro (4-0), which won, 15-6, 15-3, 15-5.
