NHL ROUNDUP : Flames End Streak With Victory

German Titov and Theoren Fleury scored less than two minutes apart late in the third period to give the Calgary Flames a 4-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Friday night at Calgary.

Gary Roberts and Robert Reichel each had a power-play goal and an assist for the Flames, who ended a five-game winless streak one day after acquiring center Michael Nylander and defensemen Zarley Zalapski and James Patrick from the Hartford Whalers.

Zalapski and Nylander had assists in their Calgary debut.

Florida, which has lost nine of its last 12 games, managed only 15 shots on goal and remained one point behind the Philadelphia Flyers in the race for the final Eastern Conference playoff berth.

Titov’s goal with 5:21 to play broke a 2-2 tie.

Fleury scored with 3:26 left.

Vancouver 8, Winnipeg 4--Pavel Bure scored three goals against newly acquired Jet goaltender Tim Cheveldae at Winnipeg.

Edmonton 4, Detroit 2--Scott Pearson scored the tiebreaking goal 39 seconds into the third period and teammate Bill Ranford stopped 45 shots at Edmonton.
