Police reported three armed robberies over the past three days, one of them leaving a Santa Ana man critically wounded.

The injured man, Jose Ramos, 28, was stabbed about 2 a.m. Monday near Newport Pier, according to Sgt. Andy Gonis. He was stabbed two to three times in the upper torso and taken to a hospital.

A 17-year-old juvenile and two men, all of Santa Ana, were arrested shortly after the stabbing.

The two adult suspects were identified as Sylvester Diaz, 20, and Jose Jimenez, 18. Both are being held in Newport Beach City Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and armed robbery, with bail set at $250,000 each, Gonis said.

About 7 p.m. Sunday, a 36-year-old Newport Beach man walking on the beach near G Street was approached by two men with guns, authorities said. The man was forced to his nearby parked car to get his wallet. He turned over cash to the men, who fled by car.

At 4:30 a.m. Saturday, a man making a withdrawal from a Wells Fargo ATM in the 3200 block of Newport Boulevard was robbed at gunpoint by a man driving a faded red Datsun, Gonis said.

The three robberies do not appear to be related, Gonis said.
