THOUSAND OAKS : Thrift Store Aids Conejo Symphony

Share

Women looking for discount fashion can buy secondhand clothes and support the Conejo Symphony at the same time during a fund-raiser running through May to support the orchestra.

Hoping to raise $20,000, the Symphony Guild has set up a thrift store in the Westlake Plaza shopping center, at 1018 Westlake Blvd. The shop, called Secondhand Rose, sells donated women’s clothing, and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Organizers have set an ambitious fund-raising target because the symphony orchestra needs money to prepare concerts for the Civic Arts Plaza’s inaugural season, which starts next fall.

So far, the thrift store has raised nearly $8,000 in a month of operation.

“It’s been very successful,” Guild President Susan Ward said.
