LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Metrolink Extends Fare Discounts Through June

Share

As a continuing earthquake relief measure, Metrolink announced Tuesday that it has extended a fare discount for Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita commuters for three more months as of April.

Commuters riding the Santa Clarita line from Lancaster, Palmdale and the Vincent Grade/Acton stations will receive a 50% discount on monthly passes, and commuters riding from Santa Clarita and Santa Clarita/Princessa stations receive a 25% discount. A monthly pass from Palmdale to Los Angeles that was $208 is now $112 through June 30.

“The effects of the earthquake are still with us. While rebuilding of the I-5 and 14 Freeway interchange continues, by this summer commuters can count on Metrolink to reduce the travel time on the route by 42 minutes due to track improvements being made,” said Larry Walker, Metrolink board chairman and San Bernardino County supervisor.

In other fare-related action, the Metrolink board reduced the ticket prices to Burbank from points west and north by one zone effective April 1.

A monthly pass from Sylmar/San Fernando to Burbank will be reduced $32; it was $112 and is now $80. This change also reduces fares for riders on the Ventura County line.

A monthly pass is valid for unlimited travel between the station where purchased and selected destinations during a calendar month. Monthly passes are sold during the last 10 days and first 10 days of the month. All tickets are good for a free one-zone transfer from Metrolink to directly connecting transit, including return transfers to Metrolink stations. Passes for the disabled and those over 65 are reduced by half.

Fares from Burbank and Glendale to Los Angeles, or to Burbank from Los Angeles or the San Bernardino, Riverside and future Orange County lines do not change.
