GLENDALE : Help Sought to Find Missing Woman, 70

Share

Police requested the public’s help Tuesday in a search for a 70-year-old El Centro woman who wandered away from a parked car Saturday while her daughter was shopping in the Glendale Galleria.

Sgt. Lief Nicolaisen said it is critical that authorities find Eloisa Bermudiez Garrido because she suffers from short-term memory lapses and must take daily medication for a heart condition and diabetes. Garrido did not have any medicine with her at the time of her disappearance.

Garrido, who had been living with her daughter Mimi Garrido in Van Nuys, is not familiar with the Glendale area, Nicolaisen said. Police do not suspect foul play in her disappearance, but believe she became confused and disoriented after leaving the mall parking structure, he said.

Mimi Garrido said her mother is very outgoing and would sit and talk with strangers for hours about her family. Eloisa had been living with her, Mimi Garrido said, because she had had a series of doctors appointments, including cataract surgery last month.

Garrido has brown hair and eyes, is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 146 pounds. She was last seen wearing a purple and blue sweater, navy blue pants, black leather shoes and three gold bracelets.

Nicolaisen said Garrido may be unable to tell people her name.

Anyone with information concerning Garrido’s whereabouts should call the Glendale Police Department at 548-3987 or after hours at 548-4840.
