Repairs to the earthquake-damaged Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach are coming along swimmingly, city officials said.

Officials plan to make $75,000 in repairs to the popular swimming area, where a mechanical water system was damaged in the Jan. 17 Northridge earthquake. Concrete in the lagoon, which is near King Harbor, also crumbled in the quake.

The lagoon, customarily closed from fall to spring, will probably open as scheduled at the end of May, city engineer Desi Alvarez said.
