TORRANCE : Officer Wounds Suspected Bank Robbers After Chase
A Torrance police officer shot two bank robbery suspects Thursday after they led authorities on a brief high-speed chase.
The two Los Angeles teen-agers, 16 and 17 years old, were in stable condition in the jail ward at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, said Torrance Police Lt. Dennis Addington. He said an officer fired a single shot that struck one teen-ager in the knee and the other in the elbow.
Police also arrested a third suspect, Amar Malik Moseley, 18, of Los Angeles, who was not wounded, Addington said.
All three were booked on suspicion of robbing the Home Savings branch on Torrance Boulevard. Witnesses said three gunmen burst into the bank at 9:42 a.m. and ordered employees and customers to lie on the floor. No one was hurt, but the robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspects had lost control of their car and crashed into a curb before the officer fired the shot that wounded two of them.
