NOW YOU SEE IT

“Picture This” (Palm Latitudes, Feb. 13) was a test, right? Did I pass? What’s my prize?

Of course, the first thing I did was “find” the leaping dolphin in the NVision Grafix print. When I did, I couldn’t believe it--the dolphin was leaping away from me “into” the page. Then, when I looked to the side and saw that you had printed the “real” picture of the dolphin, it was leaping in the opposite direction. Someone on your staff (who probably also believes there is nothing there) obviously flopped the picture inadvertently. I love it! Do I get a prize?

(By the way, I cross my eyes.)

My wife always drags me away from “holusion” prints before the image reveals itself. “It’s a hoax,” she says. “Nothing’s there.” Then the magazine gave me the opportunity to discover this miracle in the privacy of my own home, rather than crossing and uncrossing my eyes amid a crowd of strangers. But after 45 minutes, my eyes got dry and I began to doze off. Then, suddenly, I did get a revelation, but not the one I expected. My wife is right; it is a hoax. Unless those who see the images are on drugs, one approach I haven’t tried yet.
