Wanna See Streisand? Get in Line

Orange County has suddenly found itself the site of two of the hottest concerts in some time--Barbra Streisand, May 25, 27 and 29 at the Anaheim Arena, and the reconstituted Eagles, May 27-29 and 31 at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre.

Neither act is scheduled to perform in Los Angeles (although the Eagles will do one show at the Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion in San Bernardino County), making the demand for these Orange County dates all the greater.

Eagles tickets won’t be sold until April 2, but the coveted Babs ducats go on sale Sunday morning. Here’s a brief ticket guide for Streisand fans, many of whom presumably are a bit out of practice at standing in line for tickets.

How much?: Streisand tickets will cost--are you sitting down?--$350, $125 and $50. Fees will be added at TicketMaster outlets and on phone charges. (Exact amounts had not been determined as of Friday morning, according to a TicketMaster spokesman.) For those who choose to buy through a broker, a Times survey of ticket agencies indicated that prices will top out around $1,000.

When?: Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Sunday.

How many?: There is a limit of six tickets per purchase.

Where to buy?: There are three ways to get tickets: over the phone, at the Anaheim Arena box office and at selected TicketMaster outlets. All tickets will be sold from the same computer pool, so when the three shows sell out (13,000 tickets are available for each performance), they will be sold out everywhere.

Anaheim Arena: Tickets will be sold at the box office, 2695 E. Katella Ave. There will be no lineups allowed before 5 a.m.; the parking lot will open at 7 a.m. and random priority wristbands to determine your place in line will not be issued until 8 a.m.

The arena will accept cash, Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Note: Season holders of luxury suites at the arena will be issued tickets for all three nights. However, an arena spokesman pointed out that suite holders are contractually barred from selling their tickets.

TicketMaster: Outlets at all Music Plus and Tower Records stores will sell tickets (TicketMaster outlets at Robinsons/May stores will not). As at Anaheim Arena, early lineups will be discouraged, and random priority wristbands will be issued at 8 a.m.

Note: Outlets accept cash only.

Phone charge: Tickets may also be purchased by phone at (714) 740-2000 and (213) 480-3232. But don’t expect to get through on the first try, or even necessarily on the 100th--getting through by phone for a big concert is a tricky proposition.
