Police Acquire Tape of Scene
As mourners eulogized two college students who were shot to death in a weekend carjacking, Los Angeles police confiscated a videotape taken by a bank surveillance camera during the crime.
Officer Sandra Castello said homicide detectives plan to study the tape for possible clues to the identity of the gunman who killed Takuma Ito and Go Matsuura, both 19, in a San Pedro parking lot Friday night.
The tape was recorded by a Bank of San Pedro security camera at an automatic teller machine that faces out across the parking lot to the scene of the crime, the officer said.
She said the camera was scanning the area--a Ralphs supermarket parking lot--from about 80 yards away at the time of the slayings.
