ROUNDUP : Santa Margarita Edges Estancia to Reach Tournament Final

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Brian Griffin’s double drove in Jimmy Lester with the winning run as Santa Margarita beat Estancia, 2-1, Tuesday to advance to the championship game of the Pride of the Coast tournament.

Art Martinez hit a third-inning home run and Jairo Arceyut pitched a six-hitter with 12 strikeouts for host Estancia.

Santa Margarita (5-6) plays Brea-Olinda for the tournament championship at 3 p.m. today at Corona del Mar High.

In other Pride of the Coast tournament games:

Brea-Olinda 19, Orange Lutheran 0--Mike Brambilla had three hits, including a triple and a home run, for Brea.

Brambilla hit a three-run homer and finished with four runs batted in. It was his fifth home run of the season.

Trevor Lords had three hits and drove in three runs, and Jason Theis had three hits and two RBIs for the Wildcats (9-6).

Bolsa Grande 3, El Modena 0--Brian Baughman stole home and was two for three with a double and an RBI for Bolsa Grande (5-5). Brent Caldwell (1-0) recorded his first victory for the Matadors. El Modena is 2-7.

Costa Mesa 8, Newport Harbor 6 (8)--Ryan Steck’s two-out, two-run single in the top of the eighth won it for Costa Mesa (5-7). Mike Adelmund (2-2) hit a home run and got the victory in relief. Brett Hlista hit a grand slam for Newport Harbor (3-8).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Trabuco Hills 5, Laguna Hills 1--Winning pitcher Ryan Kelley (4-1) and Ryan Poe combined for a two-hitter for visiting Trabuco Hills (8-4, 4-0). Poe earned his second save and struck out Brett Nista with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth. Matt Rechner had two hits and Brad Cervantes hit a first-inning home run for the Mustangs.

In Garden Grove League baseball:

La Quinta 8, Los Amigos 0--Sean Carlson had three hits, including a double, scored a run and drove in another for La Quinta (10-2, 3-0). Los Amigos is 2-8, 1-2.

In the Sea View League:

Tustin 4, Irvine 3--Scott Ahern hit a three-run home run in the second inning to give Tustin (8-3, 3-0) a 3-2 lead. Irvine is 1-2 in league.

Woodbridge 12, University 11 (8)--Chris Talbot drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the top of the eighth, driving in Peter Watts with the winning run for Woodbridge (4-6, 2-0), which led, 10-1, after three innings.

In the Sunset League:

Huntington Beach 2, Servite 1--Chris Hansen doubled home Brad Lineberger in the fourth inning to give the Oilers (9-1, 3-0) a 2-0 lead.

Jim Brewer pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run on five hits for Huntington Beach.

Fountain Valley 8, Marina 4--Dan Hoppie had a two-run double in the top of the seventh for Fountain Valley (8-1, 2-1).

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 2, El Toro 1 (9)--Brandon Puffer’s double scored Paul Day with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth for Capistrano Valley (8-1, 2-1).

Puffer struck out nine and walked two in pitching a complete game. Ryan Harnetiaux tripled and scored the tying run in the sixth for Capistrano Valley.

San Clemente 7, Mission Viejo 1--Steve Sutherland pitched six innings, allowing four hits and one run, for San Clemente (7-3, 3-1). Sutherland also hit a home run, as did Michael Casteneda, who had two hits and two RBIs.

In the Metro League:

Riverside Christian 21, Pacific Shores 14 (8)--Pacific Shore’s Josh Lambrose pitched the entire game, striking out 21, but was hurt by 15 errors. Eric Weisberg was four for five for host Pacific Shores (1-3, 0-3).

In nonleague baseball:

Huntington Beach Claremont 6, South Gate Southeast Lutheran 4--Brett Hazan struck out 17 and pitched a complete game to earn the victory for host Claremont (1-1). Hazan also had three hits and one run scored.
