Sanchez, a freshman from Mater Dei High, started last Saturday tied for the team lead in home runs with four. But after hitting a Rancho Santiago single-game record three in a 12-7 loss to Golden West, he now has a comfortable lead over teammate Daryle Ward. Sanchez, a right fielder, was three for four in the Golden West game and drove in six runs. For the week, he was seven for 14 and drove in seven runs as Rancho Santiago won two of three games. Sanchez raised his average 40 points to .404 and has 14 RBIs for the Dons, the defending State champions.

Other notables:

* Tim Wolter, Saddleback, was six for 10 with two doubles and scored four runs as the Gauchos won two of three games.
