A judge Wednesday ordered a 45-year-old man to stand trial in connection with the December shooting death of a Ventura man outside the victim’s apartment building.

Municipal Judge Herbert R. Curtis Jr. found that prosecutors had provided enough evidence to proceed with their murder case against Garabet Majoubian of Canoga Park.

Majoubian is charged with murder in the Dec. 20 shooting of Erasmo Moro, 48. Moro’s body was found in the carport of the Scandia Apartments in eastern Ventura after residents reported hearing gunshots. Moro worked at a Ventura pizza shop.

During Wednesday’s preliminary hearing, Ventura Police Detective Tom Burke testified that Majoubian and Moro had argued over a Simi Valley woman that both men considered to be their girlfriend.

Police said Majoubian, a construction worker, went to Moro’s apartment and shot the man after an argument. Investigators later found a 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol in the suspect’s apartment, police testified.

Majoubian is being held in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
