GTE California Seeks OK for Rate Reduction: The GTE Corp. unit submitted its annual shareable earnings filing with the California Public Utilities Commission, asking it to approve a $7.7-million revenue and rate reduction. The Thousand Oaks-based company said that if approved, the refunds would be passed along as a 3.35% credit on customers’ bills for local and toll services. The reduction would amount to a saving of about $1 monthly for residential customers, GTE said. The refunds, reflecting GTE’s 1993 earnings, would be made in August and September. GTE California provides local voice, data and video services and regional toll calling for more than 3.1 million customers.
